ENGINEERING MANAGER - Peekskill, NY
The Engineering Site Lead role is responsible for providing leadership to the engineering staff at the site whose focus is to identify, develop, and implement projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, productivity, reliability, sustainability and EHS.
Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to identify capital projects and maintain a prioritized project portfolio for the site with budgetary cost estimates and timing.
- Assign engineering resources to develop and execute capital projects from conceptual design through commissioning and startup.
- Provide oversight to ensure that all projects and initiatives are carried out per corporate and site procedures while meeting requirements for budget, functionality, timing and EHS requirements.
- Act as the interface between the site and the corporate engineering group.
- Ensure detailed engineering designs comply with corporate and site standards.
- Identify the need for and seek out external engineering resources as needed.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance and Product Development to provide engineering resources for operational support, problem solving and optimization.
- Lead and/or participate in lead teams in support of optimizing plant processes for quality, cost, and productivity.
- Identify, evaluate and make recommendations regarding new process technologies.
- Identify engineering staffing needs and collaborate with Human Resources to attract, interview, hire and onboard new employees.
- Manage employee performance through feedback and coaching. Promote professional development. Conduct annual performance reviews, develop objectives based on site/business needs and personal development goals. Identify and address training needs.
Education & Experience:
- BS degree in an Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 8 years industrial experience regarding chemical plant operation.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices for project management work processes.
- Sound working knowledge of engineering disciplines, including chemical, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation, process automation & control.
- Strong competencies of analytical thinking, communication, team leadership/collaboration, and attention to detail.
Desired:
- PE license is helpful, but not mandatory
- Experience working with SAP, Microsoft Project, Emerson Delta V and Allen Bradley PLC’s.
Salary range for this position: $130K-$160K
