General DescriptionnTyonek is dedicated to solving problems for current and future customers. We are seeking a motivated individual to take on the position of Engineering Manager for our structural and mechanical engineering design and analysis team. You will hold a key role in our aircraft integration efforts. Using your engineering expertise, you will grow, mentor, and guide a team of engineers work on the integration of avionics and/or weapons systems, structural modification, and/or interior modifications into a variety of vehicle platforms. Our customers will include US DoD, foreign military, and/or commercial entities. You may also be the technical point of contact for business development and proposal efforts, customer meetings and reviews, as well as internal coordination and reviews.nDutiesnnA wide degree of creativity and latitude is encouraged.nProvide direct leadership for a team of engineers including, but not limited to, hiring, performance reviews, merit distribution, coaching, discipline/corrective actions, budgeting, and career developmentnReview and checking CAD technical data packages to include 3D models, 2D drawings using CAD software.nGuiding and driving design solutions to complex structural and/or mechanical issues in the field of rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft with considerations for weight, thermal, vibration, corrosion and airworthiness.nReviewing and approving various analysis reports.nWrite and/or review specifications, processes, and inputs to technical volumes of proposalsnParticipate and/or present material in formal and informal design reviews.nEffectively communicate with Airworthiness Authorities.nReview and support creation of installation instructions.nProvide engineering leadership and guidance during prototype, validation and verification of aircraft modifications.nReview completed installations to ensure conformance to design. nReview qualification test plans and reportsnPerforms other duties as assigned.nReport to Director of EngineeringnOther duties as assigned.nnEducation/Experience RequirementsnnBachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) is preferred.nMinimum 15 years design experience is required. nExperience in direct supervision of a team of engineers and technical staff, including performance managementnKnowledge of Mechanical engineering principals including airflow, component cooling, and ventilationnExperience in aircraft structures design to include sheet metal, machined and composite parts and assemblies.nUnderstanding of aircraft structures, load paths and designing for crash loads.nWorking knowledge of material selections military and/or commercial references nWorking knowledge and understanding of military and/or commercial aerospace practices, processes, specifications and standards.nKnowledge of MIL-STD-31000, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards and associated drawing and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements. nExperience in SolidWorks, CATIA, and/or Creo CAD softwarenAbility to write and review airworthiness documents, plans and test procedures.nGeneral understanding of manufacturability of sheet metal, machined and composite parts and assemblies. nWorking knowledge of Classical and Finite Element Analysis.nKnowledge of aircraft corrosion prevention methods, techniques and treatments.nWorking knowledgeable of DoD and/or FAA aircraft technical manuals.nExperience with DoD and/or FAA aircraft airworthiness certification substantiation analysis and reports; e.g; Weight & Balance, Drag, Structural, Crash Loads, Thermal, etc.nAbility to operate in a fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment with a high degree of efficient and effective performance.nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.nWe maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.nnPhysical RequirementsnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
