About the Job
Manages engineering staff and activities. Manager of Engineering with have responsibility of 8 Landfill sites located in VA, PA and WV and will require travel to these facilities. Employee needs to sit within the MD/VA/PA/WV area.
What You'll be Doing
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
+ Organizes and schedules all necessary engineering resources required to accomplish activities.
+ Monitors department work processes, procedures and expenses, and establishes programs which drive team performance toward departmental and organizational goals.
+ Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
+ Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
+ Submits reasonable budget information and analyzes data versus year-to-date data and prior year budget.
+ Manages departmental projects as needed.
+ Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
+ Develops and tests components, equipment, and systems applying principles and techniques of electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or industrial engineering.
+ Functions as a working team member, and provides technical and administrative direction to other engineering staff.
+ Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
+ Ensures that department project goals are met within the stated guidelines and requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes:
Direct supervision of 6 full-time employees and manage a croff functional teams of Engineers, Process Managers and Construction Managers
What does it take to be a Manager of Engineering for WM?
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
+ Bachelors Degree (accredited), or equivalent experience, in Engineering or similar area of study; or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
+ Seven years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
+ PE (Licensed Professional Engineer) Preferred
+ EIT Preferred
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
+ Solid Waste Experience
+ Waste Water Experience

The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $122,825 - $167,310. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
