Role Summary
This role will provide leadership and direction to the team of Process and Manufacturing, encompassing all product lines including hose, pump, tubing and gasket products. You will champion and lead site manufacturing and process engineering resources to meet the needs of the associated Value Streams. You will be the supply point of contact for all New Product introductions from Global NPI and will oversee all handover process and acceptance criteria. You will Manage and lead the existing team of Manufacturing engineers and technicians along with expanding and developing the team to meet the future demands of the company and ensuring robust process and product is transitioned into Production. You will help lead, enhance and develop and process improvement projects in collaboration with the VSMs and CI Team.
What you’ll be doing
• Lead the Process and Manufacturing Engineering team to deliver optimization of current processes and technology.
• Driving Excellence in Manufacturing along with supporting additional Key Initiatives as required.
• Implementation of best practice Process and Manufacturing engineering; planning vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance and in line with Operational Excellence Strategy.
• To drive continuous improvement projects using appropriate tools and techniques in collaboration with the VSMs and CI Team.
• Work with NPI teams to ensure acceptable handover and that all manufacturing requirements are satisfied in an efficient process.
• Champion and promote engagement in Operational excellence activities.
• Provide Manufacturing Engineering support and advice for regional factories and KIs.
• Budget control of manufacturing engineering department and Input into CapEx Budgets.
• Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales.
• Lead the Engineering team to ensure compliance to regulatory procedures which includes responsibility for maintaining quality within the assembly and tubing departments.
• Responsibility for the management, organization and development of the Engineering Team including recruitment, development and mentoring.
• Career development and mentoring of Apprentices to ensure successful completion of academic study.
• Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
• Drive excellence of the Manufacturing engineering team.
Who you’ll be working with
• You will work and collaborate with the UK and European engineering and engineering manager counterparts in operations and NPI.
• You will collaborate and strategize with your peers on the operations leadership team to drive Operational Excellence and best practice implementations across the site.
This is what you’ll need to be successful in this role
• Demonstrable experience of engineering leadership in manufacturing environment.
• Ideally, you will hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering/manufacturing discipline or an equivalent
• Have strong and highly developed problem solving and project management experience. Including experience with FMEA or DFMA.
• Proficient with 2D&3D CAD.
• Proven track record of achieving LEAN, 6-Sigma and continuous improvement goals
• 6-Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
• Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to coach and optimize team performance and development.
