PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Eaton Aerospace in Irvine, CA has an opening for a Senior Post Development Support (PDS) Engineer. The PDS Engineer will be responsible to resolve production product design problems and field return design problems on sustaining (current production) fuel component designs. Typical products include fuel valves, fuel floats, solenoid valves, and hydro-mechanical pumps for military and commercial aerospace applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates timely and cost-effective responses to technical inquiries from Customers and end users for products in service, including investigations to establish root cause of reported problems for fielded products.
- Support Operations organization in daily Tier meetings and as assigned by Engineering Management to ensure timely disposition of non-conforming hardware without sacrificing final product quality that could lead to operational deficiencies in the field.
- Utilizes the principles of Design for Six Sigma and Red X as part of technical problem solving to address 8-D's and work through RCCA's (Root Cause Corrective Action).
- Defines required work tasks for support personnel and prepares clear and concise reports documenting conclusions and recommended corrective actions. In conjunction, works with Supply Chain, Customer Service and Quality to define Product Improvement changes which can drive aftermarket and cost-out opportunities.
- Identify, lead, and implement cost out projects for the site and support supply chain and manufacturing cost out initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited universit
- *Minimum 3 years product design, development, and/or production design problem resolution experience.
- *Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving and data analysis skills
- The individual should have the ability to develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, experiment design, industry literature, and problem-solving tools
- The individual should be capable of presenting information clearly and effectively to multiple audiences with varying degrees of technical background
- Strong hands-on skills in working with disassembly and assembly of mechanical components
- Six Sigma (DMAIC), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), or Shainin Red X certification
- Willingness to travel up to 10%, with some international travel.
