MUST:
Experienced Endoscopy Technician GI Tech
1+ years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician GI Tech
1+ years of experience as a medical assistant
Must be able to work effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion, and diplomacy
Must be able to work under stress
Must have good verbal, communication, and organizational skills
Requires moderate periods of sitting, walking, standing and computer use
Requires moderate physical strength in moving, adjusting equipment, and assisting patients
Requires good auditory and visual acuity, and good manual dexterity.
Understand operations, function and handing of equipment according to manufacturers recommendation
Completion of medical or nursing assistant, or other healthcare course, or one year of work experience and training
BLS certification
High school diploma or equivalent
DUTIES:
Assist with ordering and maintenance of supply inventory
Assist in the care and preparation of endoscopy specimens
Assists with the admission and discharge of patients
Assists in verifying patients name, companion, and type of procedures
Makes patient pre-procedure and follow-up telephone calls
Demonstrates a cooperative nature with physicians and nurses while responding to the needs and requests of patients
Participates in risk management and quality assurance activities
Clean and make beds according to infection control policy
Restock patients bays, blanket warmer, refreshments and makes bedrolls nightly.
Assist patients in changing or transferring, obtaining ride initials, escorting patient to waiting area
Copies and maintains patient education literature at proper levels
Performs HCG and glucometer QA per policy
Assists Registered Nurse and physicians as requested during emergency situations
Participates in drills, in service training and attends meetings as required
Prepare rooms, equipment and supplies to accommodate patient load
Cleans, disinfect and/or sterilize instruments and equipment according to manufacturers recommendations.
Perform housekeeping duties and related procedures.
Assists with stocking, replenishing and preparation of supplies
Perform disinfection and sterilizing duties related to procedures
Perform housekeeping duties in procedural rooms
Aid in emergency procedures, as well as elective and scheduled cases
Schedule, set up and retrieve equipment for Capsule Endoscopy studies
Assist with preparation, transportation and monitoring of patients using maximum caution when administering care
Maintains patient education in endoscopy, endoscopy procedural rooms and related aspects of patient care
Assists with stocking, replenishing and preparation of supplies
This position has potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens
Performs other clinical or administrative duties as assigned
