Overview
The Employment Transition Specialist is responsible for helping young adults with disabilities transition from the high school setting into the workforce. The ultimate goal is to obtain and maintain successful employment. This position will: facilitate the training and integration of a young adult with disabilities in a worksite internship and/or competitive work environment; assist with the recruitment of individuals with disabilities seeking employment; assess the vocational supports and preferences needed for success; establish a person-centered employment plan; coordinate employment opportunities between individuals with disabilities and employers; determine what supports and/or adaptations may be needed for training and successful employment; provide on-site job retention services to ensure training and workplace accommodations are in place to support successful job retention; provide pre-employment training; provide aspirational job development and placement services.
Role Requirements
• Education/Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in an unrelated field, and three (3) years’ experience as described above.
- OR a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as rehabilitation, counseling, social work, psychology, education, human resources, business administration, or economics, from accredited college or university and one-year experience as described above.
- OR a Master’s Degree in a related field such as rehabilitation, counseling, social work, psychology, education, human resources, business administration, or economics, from accredited college or university and six months experience as describe above.
- All employees who will provide Supported Employment Services must also have a training certificate in Supported Employment from a state or nationally recognized Supported Employment Program.
- Experience assessing and documenting workplace accommodations and supports o Experience in employment outreach/recruitment activities.
- Must possess a valid driver's license in the state they reside, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable under corporate policy.
Physical Requirements
While performing this job's duties, the team member will be required to travel to various community sites and events. The team member will be required to provide oral presentations to small and large audiences. The team member will be required to operate computer equipment and other basic office equipment. The team member may assist with diffusing stressful situations in the workplace using approved conflict resolution techniques. May occasionally be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
