Emergency Veterinary Technician - Shift Coordinator
Veterinary Technician (RVT) / Experienced Veterinary Assistant
Seeking a compassionate, skilled, upbeat Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our tight-knit team as an ER Shift Coordinator. Sign on Bonus of up to $2,500 to qualified candidate.
Weekend shift differential and overnight shift differential.

As we are a 24-hour emergency hospital please be willing to work outside of the boring 9am-5pm weekday schedule.
Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing ER technicians and support staff on their assigned shifts. They are
expected to lead, manage, and hold all staff that report to them accountable. Responsibilities
include: assigning case load, assessing patient care, acting as a liaison, assessing and providing training, ensuring compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Manage flow of shift by properly assigning shifts based on technician skill and caseload.
● Ensure follow through by technicians on all cases and patient care.
● Facilitate customer service, technician and doctor communication to ensure accurate
and efficient completion of cases.
● Oversee all aspects of medical care, including staff adherence to nursing protocols,
anesthetic, surgical, safety, laboratory, radiology procedures, and infectious disease
control.
● Assist in resolving client questions and concerns per PETS policy.
● Supervision of daily tasks to ensure fair work distributions and completion of daily duties
including client service, patient care, and housekeeping.
● Oversee, lead, and mentor the emergency paraprofessional staff in a positive manner.
● Partner with ER floor manager/Hospital Manager to provide cohesive and collaborative
leadership to their shifts.
● Take an active role in training and teaching team members on the floor.
● Assist in solving client problems/concerns.
● Setting the standard and modeling the standard for performance, professionalism,
patient care and client service at all times while on shift.
● Assist the management team with team member evaluations, feedback, and
counseling/coaching when needed.
● Regularly attend and actively participate in shift coordinator meetings.
● Actively seek out and participate in CE (continuing education) and learning opportunities.
● Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
● Minimum 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician in a leadership role.
● Minimum 1 year of surgical anesthesia experience.
● Strong people skills, including leadership, problem solving and communication.
● Must be able to physically work the duties of a veterinary technician at any given time.

● Skilled in building strong relationships with team members, promoting teamwork,
resolving conflicts, and encouraging professional development.
● Maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times when on premises and/or acting
as a representative of PETS Referral Center.

● Has a positive attitude about the hospital and the services provided
● Ability to communicate – express thoughts and ideas competently
● Able to quickly grasp relevant concepts regarding duties and responsibilities
● Has dependable job attendance and punctuality
