Job Summary
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for Emergency Medical Technology program adjunct faculty. EMT adjunct faculty, under the direction of the Director of Allied Health, shall provide instruction in the EMT program. EMT adjunct faculty should be knowledgeable in all aspects of pre-hospital care, and should be capable of applying techniques and modalities of adult education. The work schedule is comprised of evening hours, and the schedule will vary according to program needs. The course is scheduled to run 4:30-9:30 p.m. three nights per week.
Job Duties
- Provide high-quality, effective instruction in accordance within program guidelines through lectures, demonstrations, and/or audio-visual aids.
- Facilitate student learning and perform evaluations of student learning for the program, including test administration to evaluate student progress.
- Teach safety procedures and the proper use of tools and equipment in the lab areas.
- Maintain a well‐organized, safe, and clean lab and/or classroom.
- Maintain student discipline at all times.
- Start and end class at designated time.
- Manage equipment and supplies assigned to the lab or classroom.
- Assist in screening process of prospective students.
- Maintain appropriate program and student records for documentation and evaluation.
- Assist program administrators with data collection on student licensure pass rate and job placement and conduct follow up studies of graduates.
- Assist program administrators in revising, improving and keeping the instructional program up-to-date as related to changes in techniques used in the medical field.
- Assist program administrators in responding to messages and questions regarding EMT program.
- Perform other duties as directed and assigned by administration.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate Degree from a regionally-accredited institution.
• Currently licensed as a Tennessee EMT-Paramedic without history of revocation, denial, or suspension of license.
• Licensed emergency care experience must include a minimum of two (2) years practice, preferably within the last five (5) years.
• Administrative experience must include a minimum of two (2) years in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) educational administration or greater than three hundred (300) hours of EMS instruction.
• Current TEMSESA I/C (instructor/coordinator) course (renewed within within last two years).
• Current endorsement in a Board approved trauma, cardiac, and pediatric course at the provider level.
Preferred Qualifications
• Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of pre-hospital care.
• Expertise in the clinical skills required of an EMT.
• Understanding of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision.
• Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and other appropriate office software and applications.
• Working knowledge of network systems; knowledge of student information management systems.
• Ability to deal tactfully with the public and with co‐workers.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
• Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to plan and direct the work of others.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success.
• Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple ongoing projects, and the ability to work with industry/employers.
• Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality.
• Must be willing to remain current in the industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Work performed in lab, testing center and classroom environments. Position requires the use of a computer.
- Walking or standing to a significant degree; sitting for brief periods of time; be able to clumb, bend and stoop; use body members (arms, hands, fingers).
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the campus.
Salary Range: This is a part time hourly position with a salary of $35/hour according to TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
