Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) and monitor patient responses.
- Perform transcutaneous oxygen monitoring and blood glucose testing as ordered.
- Educate patients and families on HBO therapy, including benefits, risks, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (e.g., proper attire, no flammable substances).
- Conduct wound care, dressing changes, and take progress photographs.
- Collect and document vital signs, EKGs, and other clinical data to assist with patient assessment.
- Communicate changes in patient conditions to medical staff and implement treatment adjustments as needed.
Equipment Management:
- Perform daily equipment checks, maintenance, and quality control, including glucometer calibration and chamber inspections.
- Ensure proper cleaning and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Maintain oxygen and air supply inventory.
Administrative Duties:
- Document treatments, diagnostic results, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Complete billing and treatment charges when required.
- Participate in chart audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage inventory of supplies and update stock levels as needed.
- Support patient scheduling, answer inquiries, and assist with patient transfers or positioning.
General Duties:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Orient new staff and participate in patient reviews to identify HBO indicators.
- Uphold confidentiality standards and provide quality patient/customer service.
- Pursue professional development opportunities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current state credential or license in one of the following: RRT, CRT, LPN/LVN, RN, EMT, or certified hyperbaric technologist/specialist.
- At least 1 year of healthcare experience (wound care, hyperbaric, or critical care preferred).
- Completion of an introductory hyperbaric medicine course.
- Must be eligible for the Certified Hyperbaric Technologist exam.
- Basic computer proficiency required.
Physical and Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and occasional patient transfers. Vision, dexterity, and physical stamina required.
- Environment: Indoor clinical setting with equipment and supply storage.
- Schedule: Dependent on patient volume.
