SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer, Lead to support the project senior engineering staff by conducting research, develop, design, and test software components supporting DOD navigation equipment and systems.
Position responsibilitieswill include, but are not limited to the following:
·Independently formulate and design software system, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
·Independently develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
·Consult with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.
·Consult with customer concerning maintenance of software system.
·Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
·Analyze and estimate feasibility, costs, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
·Using experience and judgment, develop and maintain plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs.
·Research and evaluate software and hardware to support development or utilization within a system.
·Train end users or technical support staff to use programs.
·Coordinate installation of software system.
·May be responsible for evaluating performance of junior staff and/or subordinates.
·May assist in the selection, training, and development of staff.
·May lead and direct limited tasks assigned to junior personnel.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
·Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related scientific discipline.
·Six (6)+ years of professional experience in C, C++, C#, Java and/or other object oriented languages.
·Demonstrated software development using one or more of these languages under the Unix, Linux, Windows, and/or VxWorks operating systems.
·Experience with interfacing to TCP/IP clients and servers.
·Experience with contractual related project/work environment, in providing engineering support to electronic maintenance and modification systems, and in establishing processes/guidelines for electric design.
·Experience with developing embedded applications on real time operating systems.
·Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree depending on domain experience and contractual requirements.
Preferred:
oSix (6) years of experience in Computer Science or Engineering field, to include: Systems/Equipment Support, Test and Evaluation support of C4ISR requirements.
oThree (3) years of technical experience in support of developing software applications using C, C++, C#, Java, assembly, or other compiled or real-time programming language.
