Job Summary:
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems within a campus-style environment, including academic buildings, residential halls, and other facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and maintenance practices, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all electrical systems on campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and emergency systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, implementing effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to facilitate repairs and installations.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate and complete projects.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and inspection reports.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce the likelihood of system failures.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of electrical upgrades and improvements.
- Provide emergency response to electrical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to campus operations.
- Manage inventory of electrical supplies and equipment, ordering as necessary.
- Train and guide junior electricians and apprentices in proper maintenance techniques and safety practices.
Qualifications:
- Valid electrician's license or certification. Preferred but not required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, including high and low voltage systems.
- Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with energy-efficient electrical systems and renewable energy technologies.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
- May require working at heights, in confined spaces, and on ladders or scaffolding.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
- May involve on-call duties to respond to electrical emergencies outside of regular working hours.
Job Location: Burbank, California
Salary:
- $52.55/HR
