Job Summary:

The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems within a campus-style environment, including academic buildings, residential halls, and other facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and maintenance practices, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all electrical systems on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and emergency systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, implementing effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to facilitate repairs and installations.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate and complete projects.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and inspection reports.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce the likelihood of system failures.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of electrical upgrades and improvements.
• Provide emergency response to electrical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to campus operations.
• Manage inventory of electrical supplies and equipment, ordering as necessary.
• Train and guide junior electricians and apprentices in proper maintenance techniques and safety practices.

Qualifications:

• Valid electrician's license or certification. Preferred but not required
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, including high and low voltage systems.
• Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with energy-efficient electrical systems and renewable energy technologies.
• Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
• May require working at heights, in confined spaces, and on ladders or scaffolding.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
• May involve on-call duties to respond to electrical emergencies outside of regular working hours.

Salary:

• $52.55/HR
