Job Summary:
Seeking a day shift highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our facility maintenance team of multi-skilled technicians in Jacksonville, FL.
The majority of the position will be electrical focused but we do need someone who is also mechanically inclined and willing to do work on non-electrical tasks.
Qualified candidates would also need to be able to complete work orders in a CMMS system as well as order parts.
Official hours will be 9AM-5:30PM EST, Monday – Friday, with flexibility for emergency call-in outside hours if/when needed and mandatory overtime to support Operations (very low frequency) which is typically on Saturdays or until 7PM during the week. Training for the first month will be 7-330PM.
• This electrical maintenance technician is responsible for the operation, care and the advance troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on the low voltage (up to 480 volts) and the medium voltage (up to 15 kV) electrical distribution system and associated equipment.
• The electrical distribution system includes, but is not limited to:120 V, 277 V, 480 V, 4160 V, and 15 kV power, lighting, substations, switchgear, transformers, and associated cables, relays, and meters.
• The electrical technician is also responsible for helping the organization of planned shutdowns, respond to client service requests, provide feedback to the customer power and lighting status calls, utilize Automated Building Controls and electrical monitoring systems, and help other facilities maintenance technicians as needed.
• Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the strong organizational/time management skills needed to be successful in this role.
• The Electrical Technician must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.
Responsibilities:
• Understands and complies with all Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) programs and procedures.
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs on a variety of electrical equipment, controls and systems including, but not limited to, the facilities electrical power and lighting infrastructure and on the site’s low and medium voltage utilities systems.
• Performs preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems and equipment, instruments, PLC and Motor control systems, VFD drives, lighting and power systems.
• Performs administrative tasks such as developing work plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Creates and modifies site operations procedures for equipment and recommends facilities reliability improvements.
• Analyzes problems, recommends solutions, and initiates repairs.
• Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Utilizes strong mechanical and electrical skills in order to complete assignments.
• Works independently (i.e., with minimal supervision) as well as within the context of a team.
• Trains, assists, and coaches other technicians, as appropriate.
• Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as Arcflash safety procedures, job hazards analysis (JHAs), lockout/tagout, and wearing of appropriate PPE.
• Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
• Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
• Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment.
•Coordinates Annual Planned Electrical Shutdown and associated work with outside contractors.
• Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
• Utilizes meggers, voltmeters, multi-meters, etc.
• Responds to and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Recommends activities to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag out procedures and wearing PPE as required.
• Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
• Five years of experience performing electrical maintenance in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer experience (word, excel, CMMS)
• Knowledgeable of the National Electric Code NFPA -70
• Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.

• Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

• Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed. • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

• Associate degree or equivalent trade school or apprenticeship program in industrial electrical or a related skilled trade. • Experience as an industrial facilities maintenance electrician in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledgeable of the requirements of NFPA 70E.
• 2+ years of experience in a lead technician role that included developing, mentoring and/or coaching lower-level technicians.
• Working knowledge of various electrical Low and Medium Voltage safety testing equipment, voltages up to 15.0 KV. • Hands-on experience with 3-phase electrical, motors, lighting, switch gear and power distribution systems maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot and program Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Knowledge of proper safety practices and procedures for maintenance tasks on electrical systems up to 15.0 KV.
• NETA or IEEE Certification associated with medium voltage equipment testing, maintenance and repair standards.
• PLC programming knowledge.
• Working knowledge of the use of relays, transformers, circuit breakers, and infrared scanning test equipment and interpretation of test reports
• Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
• Experience working in a Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) environment.
