DEFINITION:
Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within buildings, whilealso possessing a basic understanding of HVAC systems, allowing them to troubleshoot and service electrical components related to heating and cooling equipment, including wiring, controls, and motors within HVAC units.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment according to building codes and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, including faulty wiring, circuit breakers, and malfunctioning appliances.
- Perform electrical inspections and testing to ensure proper functionality.
- Upgrade electrical systems to meet new codes or increased power demands.
HVAC-Related Electrical Work:
- Install and maintain electrical components within HVAC systems, including motors, relays, and control boards.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues within HVAC units, such as malfunctioning fan motors or faulty control circuits.
- Work alongside HVAC technicians to diagnose and repair electrical problems within heating and cooling systems.
- Understand basic HVAC system operation and components to effectively troubleshoot related electrical issues.
Other Duties:
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures when working with electricity and HVAC systems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Communicate effectively with staff and other tradespeople regarding project requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid electrician license, with additional HVAC training or certifications preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Thorough understanding of electrical theory, wiring methods, circuit analysis, and electrical safety codes
HVAC Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of HVAC system components, operation, and electrical controls within HVAC systems
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical and HVAC issues.
Physical Ability:
- Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment.
- Ability to work snow and ice events.
