DUTIES
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses cause of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic system malfunction or failure of production equipment, chooses most feasible method of repair and performs corrective maintenance.
- Installs and repairs electrical systems and electrical/electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, and electrical/electronic test equipment.
- Repairs or modifies and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment by following blueprints, wiring diagrams, pneumatic drawings and electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Understands and applies all applicable city, state and federal codes (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, etc.)
- Dismantles machines and equipment and removes and replaces worn or defective parts.
- Repairs parts using soldering, welding and hand tools.
- Tests operation of machines and equipment following repairs.
- Performs regular preventive maintenance on all machines, equipment and systems.
- Maintains the facility including exterior/interior lighting, plumbing in restrooms and offices, and building repair as required.
- Inspects equipment and work area to ensure safety of operations.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than primary assignment.

Job Knowledge
- High school or technical diploma or equivalent practical experience plus four (4) or more years of related experience.
- Requires knowledge of setup, standard operating procedures and required maintenance for a variety of machinery and equipment.
- Must be able to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Requires working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and test equipment.
- Must possess working knowledge of technical math associated with electricity, electronics, pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with others.
- Requires ability to use machine/equipment manuals and reference books and to work independently and as a team.
Experience
Workmanship:
Skilled duties of electrician's trade; some of the skills are complex maintenance work.
Makes decisions, subject to some interpretations of procedures and analysis of facts required to conform to new situations.
Works under minimum supervision; however, supervision is readily available.
Materials or Products: Close care is required to be exercised to prevent damage to, waste or scrapping of partially finished or finished product.
Equipment: Ordinary care is required to prevent damage to the equipment used in the performance of the job.
Safety of Others: Considerable care is required to be exercised to prevent maiming injury to others. At times operates equipment where others are exposed, but the individual in danger may act to prevent injury.

Hazards: Work may involve frequent exposure hazards due to machinery, equipment, and product that could result in severe or permanently disabling accidents, such as falls or electric shock.
Physical Environment: Works in heated, ventilated shop. Occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements such as dirt and grease. Extreme heat in the shop during the summer months Occasional exposure to weather.
Protective equipment required includes hard hat, goggles, hearing protection, and steel toed footwear.

Constant requirement to reach, handle, stoop, hear. Frequent lifting, pushing and pulling, bending, overhead reaching/working, walking on even and uneven surfaces, hammering, pounding, use of impact tools and hand tools. Occasional crawling, kneeling and climbing. Must have near and far visual acuity including color perception. Based on an independent ergonomic evaluation of the job, requires lifting/carrying 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
