Job SummaryDetroit Salt Company is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Electrical Supervisor to oversee and manage the electrical maintenance and construction projects at our underground salt mining facility. The successful candidate will plan, develop, and implement the mine site electrical power distribution network, as well as the individual control circuits for mine site equipment. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervise Electrical Activities: Plan and supervise the activities of employees engaged in electrical maintenance and construction projects.
Electrical Power Distribution: Develop, implement, and maintain the mine site electrical power distribution network, ensuring reliable and efficient power delivery.
Control Circuits: Design and implement control circuits for various mine site equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
Project Management: Oversee electrical projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations and company policies, fostering a culture of safety within the team.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of electricians and electrical technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, project progress, and system performance.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and increased system reliability.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEducation: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related electrical discipline is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within an industrial environment, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution networks, and control circuits. Familiarity with underground mining electrical systems is a plus.
Leadership: Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing electrical teams.
Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues effectively.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Safety Focused: Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and promoting a safety-first culture.
Work EnvironmentMust be able to wear required PPE (steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, safety harness and electrical safety equipment).
Must be able to work safely in varying temperatures in production/warehouse workplace and outside year-round.
Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling loads up to 50+ lbs. Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment.
