The Role
Job Summary
Immediate Opening for an Electrical Designer to service as a Project Manager in our Warren, NJ location (also open to NYC candidates).
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform site visits to observe, document, collect, verify, and analyze existing electrical conditions.
- Perform load, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations, equipment selection, equipment specification, systems design, systems layout.
- Perform lighting design tasks, including calculations, fixture layouts, selection, specification, and scheduling of light fixtures.
- Sizing and routing conduit, cable, cable trays, circuit breakers, and low and medium voltage systems (e.g., power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and phone / data / other special systems).
- Work closely with teams to understand the scope of work, budget, goals, deliverables, and timeline to ensure project success.
- Prepare and review drawings, plans and specifications.
- Verify schedules, ensure adherence to project plans and timelines to be met by internal and external resources.
- Review and approve change orders.
- Conducts on-site inspections and documents existing conditions and performs field testing, photographing, the creation of hand sketches and observe work in progress.
- Maintains organized records, files, drawings, or other data essential to the project and ensure they are complete and filed appropriately.
- Preparation of written correspondence with clients, attorneys, contractor etc.
- Prepares investigation reports and bid documents, including drawings and technical specifications.
- Preparation of cost estimates by field measuring building and site components or performing take-off of drawings.
- Work under supervision of a Senior Electrical Engineer.
- Business development which involves attendance at marketing functions, business dinners/ events, and cross marketing with other offices.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering or related field
Work Experience
- A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience, and/ or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses and Certifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or willingness to apply, preferred.
- Must have or be able to obtain an unrestricted valid Driver’s License.
Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred, or equivalent design software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at one time.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to attend meetings and events, as needed.
- Ability to work individually or with team members and work collaboratively with other disciplines.
- Ability to work in the field and to travel outside local areas as workload and projects require.
- Ability to read construction drawings.
- Ability to:
- Lift/ Carry up to 40 lbs. (ladders, hammers, harness equipment, etc.).
- Safely work at heights.
- Safely use and/or operate ladders, lifts and other access equipment.
