About the Job
The Electrical Designer will help develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering and construction installation drawing, consult with lead engineers and review project shop drawings for design accuracy, develop conceptual or detailed electrical designs in power distribution, lighting, low voltage systems instrumentation and controls for a variety of industries, and more.
Clayco’s Engineering Business Group within the Industrial Business Unit will work to creatively solve the most complex industrial challenges and deliver food and beverage, manufacturing and distribution/fulfillment center solutions for the world’s most innovative companies.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering and construction installation drawings.
- Consult with lead engineers and review project shop drawings for design accuracy.
- Develop conceptual or detailed electrical designs in power distribution, lighting, low voltage systems instrumentation and controls for a variety of industries.
- Develop control panel drawings consisting of PLC panel layouts and I/O schematics.
- Electrical design deliverables include electrical one lines, power and lighting plans, electrical site plans, area classification plans, & grounding plans.
- Develop Revit and AutoCAD 3D & 2D models.
- Apply thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code and other applicable building codes to design projects.
- Analyze mechanical and process designs by reviewing P&IDs & general arrangement drawings.
- Other duties as required to support the project or required by customers and/or management.
Education/Experience/Attributes/Requirements:
- Associates or technical degree
- 3+ years of applicable experience.
- Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and other Building Codes
- Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks. And AutoCAD.
- Strong working knowledge of the Electrical Construction industry.
- Thorough knowledge of all types of electrical installations and electrical systems.
- Willingness to travel in support of the site specific needs and staffing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communications skills.
- Proven ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
