Early Literacy Instructional Coach
Full-time, short-term early literacy coaching opportunity in the Pendergast School District

- Salary - $ $40,000 - $45,000 for 5 months

How you’ll do it:
- Host dynamic and collaborative planning conferences that unleash the creative potential of educators.
- Craft creative example lessons that captivate students.
- Lead interactive professional development workshops when needed.
- Research and demonstrate instructional strategies.
- Foster a culture of active participation and vibrant open discussions.
- Ensure all educator development is completed successfully.
- Provide report documentation as required.
- Communicate actively with directors regarding activities.
What we’ll need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Valid AZ teacher certificate, a Reading Endorsement, and expertise in the Science of Reading.
- Understanding the stages of reading and writing development.
- Familiarity with evidence-based instructional strategies (e.g., phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension).
- Knowledge of literacy assessments and how to interpret and use data for instruction.
- Familiarity with local, state, and national literacy standards (e.g., Common Core, science of reading frameworks).
- Knowledge of early literacy curricula and alignment with developmental milestones.
- Experience delivering professional development workshops to adults.
- Awareness of diverse cultural backgrounds and their impact on literacy practices and learning styles.
- Strategies for supporting multilingual learners and students with varying abilities.
- Experience working in blended learning classrooms.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Microsoft Office experience.
Additional Details
- Qualified candidates will
- Work 5 days a week, January 2025 - May 2025
- Participate in all training (ADE will require the coaches to participate in both on-site (at ADE) and virtual grant training.
- Augment/expand coaching services to 5 schools: Amberlea (10, K-3 teachers), Canyon Breeze (11, K-3 teachers), Sonoran Sky (11, K-3 teachers), Desert Horizon (12, K-3 teachers) and Pendergast Elementary (13, K-3 teachers).
- Attend ADE Foundational Literacy Coach training and would work with our established FLC coach
- Use the district's Tier 1 curriculum, EL Education; on which the teachers have received training on the implementation of the curriculum.
- Make their schedules to minimize travel (so they are at a school per assigned day, for example); mileage is reimbursable
- Be able to work/meet with the team at Educational Services in addition to their hours at school sites.
