About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room (ER) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** All 12-hour Shifts (7 AM - 7 PM and 3 PM - 3 AM) **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 1 year **License:** Required to submit **Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI preferred, NIHSS, SANE **Must-Have:** At least one year of experience and willingness to manage increased patient volume and ED holds. **Job Description:** - Participate in a profile review process involving a questionnaire that will be evaluated by the clinical team. - Participate in modified self-scheduling and work every other weekend. - Provide care in a unit with 11 licensed beds, including those monitored and designated for various acuity levels. - Manage a patient capacity of 20-40 visits per day with patient ratios up to 1:5-6, including hallway beds. - Travelers may be involved in triaging if experienced; ED holds are managed in the main ED area. - Care for a diverse patient population including respiratory issues, overdoses, geri-psych, and typical ED cases. - Work in a setting without an interventional cath lab; psych holds are also managed within the ER space. - Team with in-house security available 24/7. - Take part in holiday duties, assigned to one of two teams during peak months. - Occasionally be on-call based on procedural position requirements. - Collaborate with a team comprising an ED physician, charge nurse (who ideally does not take patients), house supervisor available 24/7, and ED techs and paramedics utilized in triage. - Utilize Meditech EMR and read telemetry monitoring for six monitored beds. - Access to X-ray in the ED; additional services available outside the ED and transporters available until 11 PM. - Nurse-led phlebotomy on initial IV start, with repeats handled by phlebotomy team. - Follow dress code with royal blue scrubs. - Undergo a department-specific orientation typically involving 2-3 shifts with a preceptor, contingent on experience and comfort level. - Handle stress effectively, particularly in response to surges in the ED setting. Charting system: Meditech - Client/Server 5.66. Trauma Level: Acute care setting.
