A current or recently graduated student.
Working proficiency in a second language - Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese or Korean is preferred
Experience working with children (preferred)
Experience in test-taking such as the SSAT, PSAT or SAT and strong academic integrity
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
An ELI Mentor is responsible for providing a positive environment for students to learn English.
Help with activities and special events during recreation times if required.
Ability to communicate and work with students in the class, and provide necessary academic instruction and direction.
Ability to communicate and help students on health and safety concerns and during emergency procedures.
Ability to observe student academic progress and behavior, understand the materials being taught, and enforce appropriate behavior-management techniques if required.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the position.
Follow program schedule as directed by ELI director.
Work independently with students following guidelines set by teacher.
Meet any deadlines set by ELI Director, Teacher or Teaching Assistant.
Communicate with teacher regarding student issues, either academic or behavioral issues.
Act as a translator for students when language issues arise.

Follow program schedule as directed by ELI director.
Work independently with students following guidelines set by teacher.
Assist with any supervision responsibilities asked.
Communicate with teacher regarding student issues, either academic or behavioral.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise students on Field Trips and Recreation if required.
Set a good example for students including punctuality, dress, language and behavior.
Interact appropriately with parents during pick-up and drop off times if needed
Assisting with extra activities as documented on the ELI Calendar if needed.
Orientation Evening Translation if needed.
Organize and run games and activities during Recreation time if needed.
Attend field trip and special events if needed.
Working Conditions
May be subject to extended periods of time standing or walking.
Majority of time may be spent outside resulting in exposure to extremes in either heat or cold as weather and temperatures vary.
Lift equipment/supplies weighing 20 pounds.
Stand up and reach, bend down to interact with children
No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
Cognitive and communication abilities to safely supervise and manage students while at play.
