About the Job
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file legal documents (pleadings, motions, notices, etc.) electronically with New Jersey courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Review and analyze legal documents for accuracy and completeness prior to e-filing.
- Maintain and organize electronic case files in the firm’s document management system.
- Monitor and track the status of filed documents and ensure timely receipt of court acknowledgments or notices.
- Communicate with court clerks and other agencies regarding filing statuses, issues, and updates.
- Coordinate and troubleshoot any issues related to e-filing platforms, including access problems or rejected submissions.
- Assist attorneys and paralegals in preparing documentation for filing, ensuring proper formatting and compliance with local court rules.
- Maintain a knowledge base of court rules and e-filing systems for various jurisdictions across New Jersey.
- Ensure that all filings are completed within specified deadlines and follow up as necessary.
- Prepare and manage documentation related to creditor rights cases, including foreclosure proceedings, debt collection actions, and bankruptcy filings.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience in e-filing, preferably within a law firm or legal environment, is required.
- Strong knowledge of New Jersey court e-filing systems, including but not limited to, NJ Courts E-filing system, and any local court portals.
- Familiarity with creditor rights law, foreclosure, or bankruptcy proceedings is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and submission.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with legal document management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion when handling sensitive legal information.
