We are looking to hire an organized, detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our Biologics Sourcing team. The incumbent in this positions shall assist in receipt of reagent red cells and platelets used in manufacturing as well as schedule and perform phlebotomy on in-house donors. They are also responsible for drawing blood for tests, transfusions, and research. Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist (Medical / Healthcare)
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
- Perform log-in of blood products upon receipt from outside facilities and ensure segments are delivered for testing.
- Organize and reconcile blood products in refrigerator for optimal use.
- Perform phlebotomy on in-house donors.
- Prepare the weekly phlebotomy schedule, including scheduling and notification of donors and replacement of donors who may not be able to donate as scheduled.
- Assist in distribution of collected blood samples to the designated laboratories.
- Assist with maintenance of department equipment according to department specifications.
- Order and maintain department supplies.
- Assist with shipment of samples and units to outside facilities.
- Assist in transport of red cell units between production areas if needed.
- Follow applicable laboratory OSHA safety regulations with respect to chemical hazards, bloodborne pathogens, etc.
- Understand FDA regulations and ISO standards applicable to department operations and consequences of nonconformances

Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience
- Laboratory experience, required
- Certified in Phlebotomy, preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook
