Donor Services Coordinator - Overnight - Saving-Sight

POSITION PURPOSE:
This mission-centered role is responsible for coordinating and assisting in the donation process to
ensure all Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and
Saving Sight standards are met prior to distribution.

SCHEDULE:23:00-11:00 Mon/Tue/Fri & Sat/Sun/Wed/Thur

4 weeks of in-office training

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position's duties may include any or all of the following:
• Receive incoming referral calls from outside agencies, including organ procurement
organizations, funeral homes, hospices, coroners and medical examiners
• Enter referral information into client specific database
• Guide referring contacts and outside partner agencies through the donation process and
educate on referring location specific policy as needed and when applicable
• Perform preliminary donor screening to determine initial suitability for donation according to
client specific criteria
• Communicate positively and effectively with donation partners
• Continuous data entry into computer database of all relevant information and events
associated with the referral
• Access statewide donor registries, based on the potential donor's state of residency
• Dispatch technical staff to recovery site, based on final location of the potential donor
• Ensure that decedents are released per specific hospital policy
• Assess family dynamics and work with referring agency to determine best time and place for
family approach
• Determine legal hierarchy of authorizing person
• Provide support and information regarding eye donation to families of potential donors
• Provide notification to family member or close friend when there is first person authorization
• Complete donor risk assessment interview with donor family member or someone familiar with
the potential donor's medical and social history
• Operate within state Uniform Anatomical Gift Act(UAGA) and specific client standard operating
procedures
• Obtain and review hospital medical records, technician recovery forms, serology requisitions,
and other forms as applicable to determine suitability of the donor
• Assist with other functions and projects as directed by the DSC Manager or Director of Donor
Services

EDUCATION:
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Continual training and certification as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of one (1) year work experience in a call center or other customer service
environment
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and phone communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, with limited direction, and in a team environment
• Ability to work with distraction and to multi-task with frequent interruptions
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office, general database, and
web-based applications
• Must be able to handle information in a confidential, objective, professional manner
• Must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by the
organization
• Must have reliable transportation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to travel on occasion for training or company needs
• Ability to cover shifts with short notice to ensure adequate staffing
• Requires a great amount of flexibility which could include day, night, weekend, and/or holiday
hours
• Frequent periods of intense concentration, attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle mental and physical strain involved in use of printed materials and prolonged
use of computer screens
• Moderate manual dexterity for basic keyboarding
• Long periods of sitting may be required
• Must have COVID-19 vaccination

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
• Normal office environment combined with normal outdoor exposures
