Requirements
The Dock Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to dock operations. This includes strictly adhering to the network designed schedules for inbound/outbound and cross dock shipments, managing forklift operators and material handlers in the operations, training dock personnel, maintaining records, ensuring safety compliance, managing shipping paperwork, and overseeing forklift operator training and scheduling. The Dock Supervisor will also keep an inventory of assets, equipment, and supplies as well as take part in the schedule preventive care maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate with Departments:
• Work with other departments to schedule and route shipments efficiently.
2. Fleet Management Control Tower:
• Oversee and manage fleet operations to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
3. Train Dock Personnel:
• Provide comprehensive training and directions to dock workers to ensure efficient operations.
4. Maintain Records:
• Keep accurate records of dock activities (check in/out process, IB/OB BOL, seals, etc.), including equipment condition and maintenance.
5. Ensure Safety Compliance:
• Enforce safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
6. Manage Shipping Paperwork:
• Ensure all shipping paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner (check in/out process, IB/OB BOL, seals, loading manifest).
7. Manage Forklift Operators Training/Schedule:
• Oversee the training and scheduling of forklift operators to optimize productivity and safety.
8. Keep an Inventory of Assets / Equipment / Supplies:
• Maintain an accurate inventory of all assets, equipment, and supplies to support dock operations and replenish proactively to not hinder the operation.
Qualifications:
▪ Proven experience in dock or warehouse operations.
▪ Strong organizational and leadership skills.
▪ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
▪ Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
▪ Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
▪ Proficiency in recordkeeping and inventory management.
▪ Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Skills:
▪ Familiarity with fleet management systems / Yard management Systems / Transportation management systems.
▪ Experience in training and developing staff.
▪ Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
