By 2017, the ‘MOTHERSHIP’ landed at SEPHORA, opening numerous doors across the U.S. and by 2021, expanded into the global marketplace to include the UK, Germany, Russia, China and continues to expand globally to this day.
Role: Director, Social Strategy
The Director of Social Media Strategy reports to the SVP of Marketing and is responsible for establishing and executing the overall strategy, editorial calendar, and promotional plans across all social channels for Pat McGrath Labs while managing the existing social team. This role will strategically formulate and drive day-to-day implementation of content, including product launches, sales and special projects, influencer and community initiatives, audience and growth tactics, and brand/marketing messaging as well as dynamic storytelling. The Director of Social will identify new opportunities for brand awareness, setting social-first brand strategies, playbooks and guidelines with the intention to differentiate the brand. This is an in-office position with 1 WFH day/week, out of our NYC Headquarters.
Main Responsibilities:
- Set strategic vision in partnership with the SVP of Global Marketing, manage and execute the social, digital and editorial practice across the full ecosystem of current properties and platforms including Instagram and TikTok.
- Develop and drive brand positioning and narrative across all platforms, which includes delivery of quarterly social strategies and the content execution for storytelling alongside our creative teams.
- Contribute to the development of the brand's strategy; anticipate new and future engagement opportunities via analysis, consumer behavior trends and trend forecasting and drive this into sales in collaboration with our marketing and e-commerce teams.
- Work with the content team establishes content best practices based on historical performance. Brief content teams prior to tentpole moments (i.e. fashion week, Met Gala, etc.) to determine product priorities and best practices.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Product teams to identify and create storytelling and revenue-driving content across partnerships and communities.
- Review analytical reporting led by Senior Strategist & Social Manager on a monthly and weekly basis during edit meetings. Provide plans and tangible next steps to support strategies and tactics for continual engagement, audience growth, and revenue.
- Oversees Senior Strategist, Social & Trends, Social Media Manager, and Assistant Manager, Social; leading weekly status check-ins and performance reviews on a bi-annual cadence with the SVP of Global Marketing.
- Liaise with external agencies and vendors as needed (i.e. special projects such as livestreams, DPs for event coverage, etc.).
Ideal Profile:
- 6+ years’ experience in social media, with an elevated taste level and a willingness to roll up their sleeves in all aspects of the business.
- Inspiring & impactful people-leadership skills.
- Extensive experience in beauty, fashion, and luxury lifestyle branding. Experience working in color cosmetics, luxury beauty experience is strongly preferred!
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally to navigate and prioritize in very sensitive, high paced environment
- Expert in social media and digital content. Full proficiency in social media platforms with an emphasis on TikTok and Instagram
- A creative problem solver and innovator who is not just repeating what’s been done, but interested in helping to build what is next
- Experience overseeing innovative community efforts and planning that will drive engagement and bring new followers
- Ability to lead work streams from inception to execution. Willing and able to dig into execution as much as strategy and deliver executions with quality and speed
- The ideal candidate will obsess over audience insights, performance metrics and data-driven decision making to help drive creative optimizations to deliver business results.
- Experience in working with founder-led brands is a plus.
