Company Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Payroll Director to lead our payroll department. The Payroll Director will oversee a team of four direct reports and manage the processing of both weekly and bi-weekly payrolls. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing strategic guidance to optimize payroll operations. The Payroll Director will report directly to the Vice President of Human Resources and work closely with other departments to ensure smooth coordination of payroll-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Payroll Management: Oversee and manage the timely and accurate processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of four payroll professionals. Ensure that the team is well-trained, motivated, and working efficiently.
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and other legal requirements related to payroll. Prepare and submit accurate payroll reports as required by law and management.
• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes, implement best practices, and troubleshoot payroll issues to ensure a smooth operation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the HR team and other departments to resolve payroll discrepancies, address employee inquiries, and support organizational objectives.
• System Management: Oversee the use of payroll software and systems to ensure accurate data entry, reporting, and integration with other HR functions.
• Audit & Reconciliation: Perform regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
• Policy Development: Assist in developing and enforcing payroll policies and procedures to maintain consistency and compliance across the organization.
Qualifications:
• 7+ years of payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processing, wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing and leading a payroll team.
• Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days a week.
