Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge is an ecumenical, nonprofit housing ministry that builds and renovates houses in partnership with the Greater Baton Rouge community. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Finance is responsible for the oversight and performance of all financial and accounting functions including establishing and assuring internal controls; supervising the maintenance and safekeeping of accounting systems and data; preparing budgets, financial statements, and tax & audit activities of the organization, including those of the Habitat ReStore of Baton Rouge, LLC; cost accounting; mortgage valuation and reconciliation.
Ensures timely financial and statistical reports for management use. This is the top finance and accounting position for the organization.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Director of Finance develops annual organization, department and project budgets with Finance Committee, Board President, Chief Executive Officer, department directors and managers.
- Ensures appropriate Internal Controls are developed and maintained.
- Coordinates with HR Director and payroll service provider to ensure proper completion of payroll.
- Works with the Chief Executive Officer and Construction Director to ensure that documentation for costs is properly obtained, maintained, and safeguarded.
- The Director of Finance reviews bank reconciliations, sales tax returns, credit card statements and vendor payments.
- Oversees cost accounting for house builds, critical home repairs and events.
- Reviews monthly financial statements noting reasons for variances in budget.
- Presents monthly financial statements to the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.
- The Director of Finance oversees mortgage servicing and preparation of monthly mortgage documents.
- Prepares annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and act as the primary contact for the annual audit performed by independent external auditors.
- Ensures the organization remains in compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- The Director of Development protects the organization’s values and individuals’ privacy by maintaining confidentiality.
- Supports the ReStores with profitability analysis, inventory control and Lightspeed Point-of-Sale assistance
- Assists IT Contractor and Chief Executive Officer with technology needs of the organization
- Acts as liaison with the Property Manager of eight business suites connected to ReStore North.
- Other duties as required by business needs and requested by the Chief Executive Officer and the Finance Committee.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Licensed CPA or B.S. in Accounting and equivalent / related work experience
- Four years’ experience in accounting. Non-profit or government experience preferable
- Proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Construction and/or mortgage experience helpful

Computer Literacy:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required
- Ability to learn Habitat’s mortgage software to record and obtain information
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online accounting software helpful

Work Schedule:
- Must be flexible to work extended hours
- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
