Reports to: KDAM VP Finance
As a Director of Finance and Accounting you will be responsible for direct supervision of accounting, tax, payroll, treasury and internal audit functions. You will lead the following activities: to create and implement policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues; to design procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate, and to ensure compliance with all relevant tax, SEC, local and pan-Americas regulations and laws. You will also play a pivotal role in the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan (budget), quarterly forecasts and the reporting/analysis of actual results versus budget (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow). Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly close process and analysis thereof; collection of accounts receivable, supervising accounts payable, payroll, weekly cash flow reporting and forecasting, tax reporting and accounting; SOX compliance, and annual tax return preparation and liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
Key Responsibilities:
▪ Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained. Accurate and timely production of all financial information
▪ Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting (SOX compliance included)
▪ Preparation of monthly financial statements and related financial statements’ working papers/analyses
▪ Preparation of the rolling cash flow
▪ Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balances
▪ Preparation and control of semi-monthly payroll and related payments and journals
▪ Preparation of workpapers supporting the annual tax return; coordinate the preparation of annual tax return with outside CPA firm
▪ Maintenance of fixed asset records for coordinate quarterly inventory of fixed assets with the information technology department ▪ Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
▪ Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations (US GAAP, SOX, AML, governance, SEC, etc.)
▪ Proper analytical review of the operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective
▪ Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

C.P.A. required
Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Business Administration
Experience:
- “Big Four” or national accounting firm audit experience is preferred, followed by
- At least 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance in a commercial corporation.
- 4+ years’ experience managing accountants including managing managers and the accounting/tax and finance function.
- 3+ years in a position equivalent to a Director of Finance and Accounting or higher responsibilities covering Canada, the US and Central/S America (or a portion thereof)
- Cross-functional team leadership and project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
- Strategic and creative problem solver who anticipates risks and opportunities and maintains a vision for continuous improvement
- Strong business acumen
