Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 annual, depending on experience.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering specializing in preliminary site design to lead our civil engineering team. This role is critical in managing zoning and entitlement processes for our residential projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations while delivering designs that meet our high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Oversee and mentor the civil engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Develop and implement best practices for preliminary site design and civil engineering processes.
Preliminary Site Design
- Lead the design of residential site layouts, including grading, drainage, and utility design.
- Ensure designs are feasible, sustainable, and aligned with McBride Homes' vision.
Zoning and Entitlement
- Manage the zoning and entitlement process for all residential projects, coordinating with local municipalities and stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and applications for zoning approvals and entitlements.
Project Management
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure timely delivery of engineering services.
- Monitor project budgets and schedules, ensuring projects remain on track and within budget.
Regulatory Compliance
- Stay updated on local zoning laws, building codes, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure all designs comply with state and local regulations and industry standards.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external agencies, clients, and stakeholders regarding engineering and design issues.
- Facilitate community engagement and presentations to ensure transparency and gather input on design proposals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Missouri.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on preliminary site design and zoning/entitlement processes.
- Proven experience in managing teams and leading complex engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of local zoning regulations, land use planning, and entitlement processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Proficient in engineering design software and tools.
