About the Job
The Director of Construction Operations is accountable for construction operations in an established and growing General Contractor. The position is responsible for developing and accomplishing all site objectives in the areas of safety, quality, production, people development, and customer service. The Director of Construction Operations looks for ways to improve the metrics of the operation, through visual, hands-on applications along with the development of the immediate supervisory staff and lead personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, and leads with an intense focus on safety and quality while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and internal company policies.
- Directs, manages and develops staff to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Establishes, communicates, implements, and enforces safety programs and procedures; conducts routine safety inspections and meetings; ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment; identifies and implements safety improvements.
- Monitors operating budget; analyzes labor costs and material usage; develops labor models to forecast needs and balance production; identifies and implements improvements to positively affect profitability.
- Fosters and maintains a high level of customer service through on-time production, responsiveness to customer needs, and ensuring that the quality of the shipped product meets all customer requirements.
- Communicates with other company resources to coordinate activities, develop new and innovative solutions, and drive waste out of the process.
- Employs continuous improvement methodologies and tools to accomplish business objectives and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering. Industry experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- 10+ years of construction management experience; 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to independently manage operations.
- Track record of building a high-performing team to succeed in a demanding, fast-moving, and growth-oriented atmosphere.
- Proven project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement and change management activities.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with a proven record of building relationships and collaborating across multiple operations and corporate support functions.
- Keen business acumen and attention to detail with a solid record of leading change and delivering superior safety and business results.
