Position Overview:
The Director of Compliance is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s compliance programs and ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and leading a team to ensure that the organization operates in a legally compliant manner. The Director of Compliance works closely with the senior leadership and various departments to promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Program Development and Management:
· Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs that adhere to all regulatory requirements.
· Update policies and procedures in response to changes in legislation and regulations.
· Lead the creating and dissemination of compliance related training for staff at all levels of the organization.
Risk Assessment and Management:
- Compliance subject matter expert (risk tolerance, fraud, HIPAA, medical record requests, payor grievances
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditations, standards, and insurance contracts.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks, ensuring that potential risks are addressed.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance assessments to detect and address any potential risk.
- Prepare regular risk assessments and reports for senior management.
- Conduct investigations regarding formal grievance and compliance submitted by internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement company policies pertaining to risk management and compliance with payors.
Monitoring and Reporting
· Monitor and evaluate the organization’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
· Maintain up-to-date records of compliance activities, reports, and audits. Oversee the investigation and resolution of compliance issues, reporting significant findings.
Regulatory Liaison:
- HIPAA officer for the company
- Stay current with industry regulations and legal trends to proactively adjust compliance strategies.
- Develop, implement, and oversee internal auditing framework to ensure adherence to payor and organizational standards.
Team Leadership and Training:
· Manage and mentor a team of compliance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
· Provide leadership in the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications (Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)) is preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance and risk management.
· In depth knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
· Experience with auditing, monitory, and reporting compliance activities.
