Job Title: Director of Accounting
Location: Woodbury, New Yok (Long Island)
Schedule: Hybrid (flexible)
Salary: $160k-$175k
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Develop a strong, accurate and timely regulatory reporting framework supporting the firm as a whole, its departments, as well as its Partners
· Adhere to accepted accounting principles and the firm's accounting policies and procedure, to ensure the integrity of firm accounting data
· Ensures efficient, effective and consistently high-quality results in all aspects of the Firm's accounting operations including financial reporting and processing
· Stay current on changes to regulations in all jurisdictions and recommend processes to ensure compliance
· Owns the maintenance and control of the Firm's general ledger system
· Collaborates with CPA firm to prepare and produced information to support Partnership tax schedules
· Assumes lead role in managing relationship with CPA firm as it relates to the yearend review and external audits
· Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel
· Work closely with Financial Planning & Analysis team to prepare schedules for the firm’s annual budget.
· Designs, develops and implements methods and strategies to continually improve accounting processes
· Delegate authority for the receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds, securities, and financial instruments.
· Develops Talent: prioritizes the development, training, and appropriate delegation of new activities to team – actively looks to provide stretch assignments and exposure.
· Partner with Senior Directors and business support teams to enhance Firm onboarding/exiting procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred
· Strong working knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practice, financial markets, and banking.
· Minimum of 8+ years experience in accounting in a law firm or professional services organization.
· Outstanding organizational skills and a demonstrated ability of maintaining and producing high quality work product with minimal oversight
Technical spreadsheet (MS Excel) expertise and proficiency in PowerPoint as well as the other MS Office suit

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
