In this high-visibility role, the CPA will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, leading a team of controllers and accounting managers, and setting the standard for best-in-class acquisition and integration accounting practices. This position is ideal for an accomplished professional with a strong background in transformational accounting, M&A, and acquisition accounting, and who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead and develop a team of controllers and accounting managers, setting the vision and strategy for a high-performing, scalable accounting organization
- Acquisition Integration: Spearhead the integration of newly acquired companies into the accounting and financial systems, ensuring seamless transitions and accurate reporting
- Accounting Oversight: Oversee regional accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, and month-end close processes. Ensure full compliance with U.S. GAAP and groupwide accounting policies
- Financial Reporting & Automation: Ensure that financial reporting is highly automated, accurate (98%+), and audit-ready, with the necessary internal controls in place to protect company assets
- Process Improvement & Standardization: Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems, driving greater efficiency and accuracy
- Audit & Tax Coordination: Work closely with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate a smooth audit process, providing all requested information and support
- Strategic Planning: Assist with annual budget planning and long-term financial projections, offering insight into performance and areas for improvement
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Manage and participate in special projects focused on improving the quality of financial reporting and streamlining accounting processes
- Cultural Leadership: Contribute to the development of a positive, collaborative team culture by fostering open communication and encouraging team growth and development
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: 10+ years of accounting experience, with a strong background in public and private accounting
- Licensing: Active CPA license required. In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting and acquisition accounting principles
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing a decentralized accounting team, with demonstrated success in developing and mentoring team members
- Acquisitions Expertise: Extensive experience with M&A, roll-ups, and acquisition accounting, specifically in the integration of newly acquired companies into financial systems
- Multi-location Experience: Experience managing accounting operations across multiple locations, including financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls
- Systems Proficiency: Experience with accounting ERP systems (Sage Intacct a plus) and implementing accounting processes that support rapid growth
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities, with the capability to turn complex financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical accounting information for a wide audience
