Creative Financial Staffing has been exclusively retained by a Boston based REIT to identify a Director/VP of Technical Accounting and Reporting to join their team.

- Opportunity: The Director/VP of Technical Accounting and Reporting will be a key contributor to the Reporting and SOX Compliance Function while working with the Controller, CAO and CFO to continue building out the accounting infrastructure to support growth of the company.
- Exposure: Working directly with the CAO and CFO, the Director/VP of Technical Accounting and Reporting will be a key member within the Accounting and Finance team with exposure to the executive team, and external audit teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Reporting to the CAO, the Director/VP of Technical Accounting and Reporting will have “hands-on” responsibility for all aspects of the company’s financial reporting process, including, but not limited to review of financial results and quarter end workpapers; the preparation/review of the 10K, 10Q & other SEC filings and supporting schedules; preparation of the earnings release; SOX compliance.
- Assist with the research, documentation, and implementation of significant/relevant technical accounting standards.
- Review purchase price allocations, quarterly performance stock unit and warrant valuations, Hypothetical Liquidation Book Value calculations for our equity method investment in joint venture, E.P.S calculations and quarterly assessment for indicators of impairment.
- Maintain and enhance documentation surrounding the internal controls over financial reporting of the company.
- Coordination of procedures and supports with internal and external auditors
- Potential to mentor and oversee staff
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting and C.P.A licensure
- B.A. or master’s degree is preferred, but not required.
- 7+ years’ experience in either 1) a Big 4 or National CPA firm with public clients (ideally in the Real Estate industry); or 2) a mix of public accounting and industry experience
- Must have SEC reporting and SOX experience either during your time in public or in your current role.
- REIT Experience highly preferred
