QUALIFICATIONS
The Director of Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for leading and managing the Health Information Management department to ensure the accurate and secure management of patient health records. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the organization complies with regulatory standards, optimizes health information systems, and supports clinical and administrative functions. The Director of HIM oversees the development and implementation of policies and procedures, manages the HIM team, and works closely with other departments to facilitate the effective use of health information across the enterprise.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Director of Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for leading and managing the Health Information Management department to ensure the accurate and secure management of patient health records. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the organization complies with regulatory standards, optimizes health information systems, and supports clinical and administrative functions. The Director of HIM oversees the development and implementation of policies and procedures, manages the HIM team, and works closely with other departments to facilitate the effective use of health information across the enterprise.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification is required; other relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Health Data Analyst - CHDA) are a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in Health Information Management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- 5 years of Epic experience related to HIM
- In-depth knowledge of health information management practices, including EHR systems, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and other federal, state, and local requirements.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in health information systems, with advanced skills in data analysis and reporting.
- Driving change using Epic tools
