The Director, Global Strategic Sourcing individual will support indirect needs such as Cap-Ex, MRO, Transportation (OTR, Rail, Intermodal), Op-Ex, industrial supplies, chemicals, clean room goods, and tools. The of Director of Global Strategic Sourcing will execute category management to improve our supply chain efficiencies and achieve lowest total cost of ownership (TCO). The function includes execution of RFPs, optimization of spend, supplier mix sourcing strategies to increase efficiency, reduce costs, mitigate risk, understand and anticipate inflation while exceeding customer expectations.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000/ per annum + bonus
Core Responsibilities
- Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department, including, but not limited to, supply continuity, payment terms, cash targets, and cost savings.
- Manage a team while collaborating with senior management to reduce supply conflicts and execute a coordinated supply base strategy across Supply Chain.
- Manage spend and strategies to reduce costs related to categories such as transportation, industrial supplies, chemicals, raw materials, fittings, and other general MRO.
- Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services that support business unit requirements to maintain continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expenditures.
- Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify the financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categories.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure the appropriate criteria, such as delivery of business results, cost reduction, quality and timeliness of delivery.
- Conduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for assigned categories.
- Create contract documents in collaboration with the legal department.
- Manage contracts to ensure the performance of the supplier to contract compliance and established preferred suppliers for assigned categories.
- Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret application of contract to business needs.
- Create and implement management programs to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply base. Own Supplier Relation Management (SRM).
- 10+ years as Sourcing Category Manager
- Technical or Analytical degree, MBA a plus in relative degree (e.g. Logistics, economics, supply chain, mathematics, engineering, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex and detailed data and assumptions, including excellent MS Excel skills (e.g. Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Demonstrable analytical ability with a sharp eye for numerical detail is essential, as is the ability to understand and discuss potential financial outcomes.
- Conduct opportunity assessments, benchmarking, cost modeling, and root cause analysis to develop sourcing recommendations.
- Maintain sourcing database(s) to ensure reporting is accurate; review and analyze reporting.
- Participate in cross-functional and/or global sourcing teams in developing sourcing strategies and supplier negotiation strategies.
- Investigate pain points within the process and develop solutions to resolve conflicts and inefficiencies, risk mitigation (e.g. alternate and redundant supply).
- Gather data on each step within the supply chain, using it to recommend changes to reduce costs, reduce waste, reduce inventory, extend DPO or improve delivery performance.
- Excellent communication, facilitation (workshops), and influencing skills with the ability to build strong partnerships at all levels within the organization.
- Previous experience using ERP systems like SAP, DAX, Oracle, etc.
