The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, as well as experience running energy efficiency studies for 179D.
This is a high-impact role involving team building, project management, and client interaction as we build and expand the practice.

Join Ryan’s multidisciplinary team of more than 4,800 professionals and associates, serving over 30,000 clients in more than 80 countries, and help us solve tax issues for many of the world’s most prominent Global 5000 companies.Job Summary:The 179D Energy Engineer is responsible for team leadership and project management related to a 179D Commercial Energy Study.Responsibilities: Tax Consulting: Prepare IRS Form 7205, 179D energy certificates, and draft final reports for client deliverable with the required IRS information.Project Management: Stays up to date on the progress of all projects, managing numerous projects simultaneously.
Ensures projects stay on track to achieve energy efficiency goals and program requirements.
Enters data into appropriate databases.Energy-Modeling: Analyze energy-savings via energy-efficiency modeling with one of the Department of Energy (DOE) software approved for 179D use such as eQuest, DesignBuilder, DeST, DOE-2.2, EnergyGauge, or EnergyPlus.179D Field-Inspection: Capable of overseeing and performing the 179D standard NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) tests and inspections including: 1) Building Envelope; 2) Interior Lighting checklist, control verification, and IESNA illuminance measurement; and 3) HVAC systems including verification of brand & model installed and proper commissioning settings such as fans and pumps greater than or equal to 5 hp, economizer operation, thermal energy storage systems, energy recovery systems, natural ventilation, demand controlled ventilation, desiccant systems, combined heat and power systems, and other energy systems.Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key ResultsPeople: You will work on Ryan’s “Green Energy” team helping clients with making energy-efficiency and clean energy decisions.

You will have analyzed new construction projects in several industries with cost greater than $50 million US, and complete fixed assets reviews for US taxpayers with more than 50,000 line-item assets.
Oil & gas, real estate, healthcare, pharmaceutical, retail, food service, and utilities industry experience is valued.Value:Our strategic tax services deliver substantial value, improved profitability, and greater cash flow for many of the world’s most respected companies. Similar tax research experience with Bloomberg BNA, Sage, and CCH fixed assets software is a plus.Technical Skills:Proficiency in CAD/Autodesk and energy-efficiency modeling with one of the Department of Energy (DOE) software approved for 179D use such as eQuest, DesignBuilder, DeST, DOE-2.2, EnergyGauge, or EnergyPlusCertificates and Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE License) and/or other energy related consultant credential in one or more US jurisdictions.Supervisory Responsibilities: This position initially has no supervisory responsibilities but will soon expand to include more engineers, energy-efficiency modelers, and site inspectors. You will be part of a practice launch with other Ryan professionals.Work Environment:Standard indoor working environment.Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.Within an incredible work environment, this position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm and interface with external vendors as necessary.
