Position Title: Directional Drill Operator

Position Purpose
As a Directional Drill Operator at Borco, you will lead a crew in the installation and maintenance of underground power lines, telecommunications cables, and other utility infrastructure using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) techniques. This role is ideal for experienced operators with a strong background in HDD, who can manage project execution safely, efficiently, and with a high level of expertise. The role may involve travel to various locations, including out-of-state projects based on client demand.

- Drill Operation: Operate HDD equipment to install underground utilities.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to fulfill project requirements accurately.
- Utility Coordination: Conduct utility locates and daylighting to avoid conflicts with existing underground utilities and ensure safe operation.
- Crew Leadership: Supervise and guide the crew, enforcing safety, efficiency, and productivity standards on the job.
- Mentorship: Train and mentor less-experienced crew members on safe drilling practices and equipment usage.
- Safety Protocols: Conduct pre-job briefings and tailgate safety meetings to review and enforce safety procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on vehicles, drilling equipment, and tools.
- Project Execution: Plan and execute tasks according to job prints and project specifications, prioritizing safety and compliance.
- Physical Labor: Engage in physical labor as required, including lifting, digging, and material handling.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and operate hand tools and equipment.
- Capable of lifting 50+ lbs. and handling physically demanding tasks.
- Able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing structures.
- Full mobility and appropriate PPE usage for safe task execution.
- Exposure to outdoor construction elements, including fumes, airborne particles, and extreme weather.
- Frequent exposure to loud noises and moving mechanical parts.
- Flexibility to adapt to dynamic environmental conditions.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of directional drilling experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pull a 20' trailer. CDL is Preferred.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Willingness to travel for out-of-state assignments as needed.
- Capacity for physical labor and ability to work overtime as required.
- This role requires drug testing and background checks per company policies.
