Job DescriptionAre you passionate about making a positive impact on people's lives? We're seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our residential team in Washington, United States. In this rewarding role, you'll provide essential support to adults and children with developmental disabilities in a home-like setting.
Available Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00AM-3:00PM
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist individuals with personal hygiene, daily living activities, and medication administration as directed
- Create and maintain a safe, comfortable living environment for residents
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals in their homes
- Accompany residents on community outings and recreational activities
- Prepare nutritious meals and perform light housekeeping duties
- Implement and monitor individual care plans, ensuring personalized support
- Conduct monthly fire drills and maintain safety protocols
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of client activities and progress
- Collaborate with team members and healthcare professionals to ensure quality care
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards at all times
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
- High school diploma or GED required
- Successfully complete Phase I and II orientation training approved by DDA
- Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Physical ability to assist with personal care and perform light housekeeping duties
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and resilience when working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
- Complete other trainings as required by stakeholders and management
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness
- Willingness to learn and adapt to clients' individual needs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Emotional stability and resilience in a challenging work environment
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and training
Additional Information
Compensation: $17.50 per hour
