Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a Dining Server at our Cedarhurst of Highland community. This position requires ecery other weekend and holiday availability.
As a Dining Server you will have the opportunity to connect with, and positively impact the lives of, our residents daily! You will provide a top-notch dining experience for our residents and their families.
As a Dining Server, working with the Dining Services Director, you will impact the lives of our residents by –
- Supporting all catering, room service, special party needs, marketing functions, etc.
- Taking drink and food orders, serving residents and guests in a professional and efficient manner.
- Maintaining a clean work area by assisting with washing all pots, pans and cooking utensils used to prepare a meal.
- Clearing, sanitizing, and setting tables, removing garbage from the kitchen and cleaning trash containers, thoroughly reviewing and completing daily checklist of duties for maintaining and cleaning kitchen and dining areas.
- Assisting in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events, sweep, vacuum, and mop floor at the end of shift.
- Possessing a working knowledge of individual assignments and resident dining needs.
- Assisting in controlling food costs, when possible.
- Reading and following recipe books, as well as reading labels.
- Safely operating and cleaning all kitchen equipment and cooking utensils.
- Understanding dining menus and can effectively communicate information to residents.
- Ensuring table settings meet Cedarhurst’s dining standards.
- Remaining current and up to date with all food safety licensing requirements for FDA, state, county, and local authorities along with ensuring all guidelines are adhered to.
- Maintaining safety standards as outlined by Cedarhurst guidelines for infection control.
- Utilizing basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ensuring effective communication is being utilized by community staff with the residents’ families concerning residents’ care, encompassing their physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.
- Working well with others and taking direction from management, as well as taking initiative with the capability to engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand/move, communicate, and identify written information.The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently; occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with assistance.

To become a Dining Server, you will need –
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 0-2 years of previous experience preferred.
- Applicable state/county licensure preferred.
- CPR or BLS certification preferred.
- Be able to demonstrate proficiency in Internet browsers (e.g. Explorer, Chrome, and Fire Fox), Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word and Publisher, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and any HR related systems if applicable.
