Overview:
Help maintain our fleet of trucks and trailers. You will be responsible for maintaining the health and safety of our trucks and other equipment. The ideal candidate will have a background in diesel mechanics, repairs and maintenance. You must be able to follow instructions, respect our safety rules and be able to work independently with great attention to detail. We will train you on how to perform your duties accurately and efficiently, using our equipment accurately and keeping our shop and equipment in good condition. Detailed Duties:
- Inspects mechanical systems of vehicles for completeness of repairs by installing new parts or fixing worn or broken parts by performing routine preventative maintenance (RPM) on vehicle engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes etc. Engine repair includes checking oil levels, diagnosing problems with electrical systems (e.g. fuel economy), electrical wiring, cooling system (e.g. cooling fan), exhaust system (e-tubes) etc.
- Performs diagnostic tests on vehicle electrical systems (e.g. lights) and mechanical systems (e-shafts) etc.
- Repairs vehicle engine by replacing worn parts with new ones and adding additional horsepower through performance-enhancing practices (EPD). EPD includes adjusting air conditioning settings, replacing fluids etc.
- Maintains inventory of spare parts by obtaining supplies as needed for repairs as needed for maintenance technicians or service department technicians.
- Performs heavy lifting activities as needed to complete repair tasks including but not limited to: lifting 50+ pounds frequently; moving 50+ pounds occasionally; bending at least 30 degrees at waist level frequently; climbing ladders frequently; operating power tools such as drills press saws grinder etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for this position . A good driving record is an absolute must . A background check will be performed before an offer is made .
- Able to drop and hook trailers and operate trucks within our property.
- Mechanic certification is preferred but not required . A journeyman/journeyman's license is acceptable but not required .
- 2 yr Experience as a mechanic is required . A background check will be performed before an offer is made .
- Diesel engine repair: 2 years (Required)
- Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (Required)
- Cummins and Detroit Motors: 2 years (Preferred)
