Under the dentist's supervision, Dental Assistant s perform medical and administrative skills to dental caregivers and supporting patients.
A caregiver in this position works 7:30am - 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Assist with performing assessments and treatments.
- Perform diagnostic radiographs.
- Obtain alginate impressions for diagnostic and/or intra-oral appliances.
- Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned.
- Maintain dental equipment and medical supplies including sterilizing instruments, reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
- Maintain examination areas.
- Work in clinical and operating room settings as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High s chool d iploma or GED.
- State certified as a Dental Assistant Radiographer.
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) upon hire or within one year of employment OR certification as a Certified Ohio Dental Assistant (CODA) administered by the Ohio Commission on Dental Assistant Certification (OCDAC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Specific certification required depends on the assigned area.
- Knowledge and understanding of the dental management of medically compromised patients to include cardiology, oncology, hematology, and infectious disease patients.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Two years of dental assisting experience .

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to ambulate patients for x rays and to dental chair.
- Dexterity sufficient to operate CRT/PC and other office equipment.
- Ability to work while standing the majority of work day.
- Requires frequent data entry, lifting patients, pushing/pulling over 75 pounds, sitting, squatting, standing and walking.
- Must possess manual dexterity to pass instrumentation, hand mix impression material and stone / plaster, use applicator gun to express impression gun, trimming casts as well as operate PC.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
