RACS is currently seeking a motivated, qualified individual to work at our day support program (Magnolia Center) in Lexington, VA. RACS will provide training, supervision, and education opportunities specific to the position.

Position Overview:
Full-time position responsible for supporting adults with developmental disabilities to gain knowledge in activities of daily living, community integration, communication and social skills; administer medications, complete documentation, and drive agency vehicles.
Qualifications:
Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, and excellent communication, computer, documentation, and organizational skills. Must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, including but not limited to the following: Knowledge of human services delivery; program planning, development, and implementation; and strong computer skills. Skills in establishing and maintaining good relationships with program participants and their support system; observation and listening skills; recordkeeping and report writing; program development; accessing supervision and chain of command. Ability to communicate with individuals with developmental disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships w/supervisor, program participants' support system, and other staff; maintain program participant confidentiality; work w/limited supervision and be self-motivated; instruct concepts and skills; conduct assessments and evaluations; to be on time and have regular work attendance; make sound judgments and emergency decisions as necessary; must be able to physically assist individuals and must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Ideal candidate will be energetic, positive, enthusiastic, and able to solve routine problems and adapt well to change. Theatrical experience is a plus; must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record in accordance with RACS policy.
Background Investigation Requirements:
All applicants are subject to a background investigation. Investigations may include fingerprint checks (State Police); local agency checks; employment verification; verification of education (relevant to employment); and other checks based on the position.
Probationary Period:
All persons that are newly hired, rehired, transferred, promoted, or demoted into a Rockbridge Area Community Services position must serve a new 6-month probationary period.
