Pay Range: $70 - $80/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide database and system on-site support of the IBM DB2 mainframe z/OS environments
- Support numerous IBM application environments & teams leveraging DB2 z/OS databases
- Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance
- Based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance
- Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
- Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)
- Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
- Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching
- Perform and manage system and database backups
- Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failures
- Participate fully in 24x7x365 oncall rotations for production support
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Key Skills; DB2
- Mainframe
- z/OS
- Certification as Database Administrator in DB2 z/OS at V11 through current.
- Working experience with mainframe DBA tools from Broadcom/CA required– including.
- RC/Merger
- RC/Query
- RC/Migrator
- Detector
- Subsystem Analyzer
- Strong knowledge of SQL and performance tuning.
- Participation in 24x7x365 oncall rotation required.
- Also tools from Rocket Software including ASG-TMON/MVS, TMON/DB2, IBM – DataStudio are Preferable.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
- 6+ years’ experience required including use of all IBM Utilities and Commands in an administration and architecture role
- Experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
- Strong knowledge of SQL and tuning
- Knowledge of IBM Data Studio, Broadcom/CA database administration tools, TMON monitoring
- Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes
- Understanding of support agreements and their implied service levels
- Proven ability to write excellent technical documentation
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively
- Ability to work well with people partnering and collaborating on solutions from many difference disciplines.
- Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to mentor others
- Action and results oriented
- Ability to exercise good judgement while under stress
- Knowledge of mainframe database products including CA DB2 tools, TMON monitoring, Data Studio is preferred.
- This position will be focused primarily on the Mainframe z/OS platform. Demonstrated experience as Database Administrator in DB2 on z/OS 2.4 or higher, and DB2 z/OS V12.
