We are looking for a DBA to join the team. This is not a short-term contract. Wewould prefer toeventually move the person to being a full-time employee, if possible, but theprimary goal is to have anemployee that can meet our skill requirements. If the selected candidate desiresto stay as a contractor,we are more than willing to allow this but will also work to get to being afull-time state employee ifthey desire.They will need to have experience with formal change control environments. Theyalso need strongtroubleshooting skills.This position is for an expected 40 hours per week Monday through Friday withtwo days on site. Thereis currently a rotation for on call during the period Saturday morning tillMonday morning and thisposition may be required to assist with this after an initial learning period.Overtime and weekend workis rare and must be scheduled and approved by our customer. This is generally ascheduled project.Our environment is predominantly Sybase with SQL Server. We are moving fromSybase to a pure SQLServer in approximately 3 years. The Sybase environment is 15.7 on Solaris in anX86 hardwareenvironment within our local network. The SQL Server environment is mixedversions of SQL Server onmixed versions of Windows Server with an upcoming project to update versions.This environmentincludes both servers in our network and in Azure.Our planned goal is to move off Sybase and a project to do this is underway andthus the need for theselected candidate to have some experience with both Sybase and SQL Server.Our primary goal is to have an additional individual to assist with our Sybase15.7. As a result, theappropriate candidate will need to have Unix background running and developingCRON jobs withcommand line experience. The DBA should be familiar with Sybase ASE 15.7. Thiscan be at the level ofa junior DBA. The desire is to have a DBA that can assist with tasks,particularly during after hoursimplementations that the senior DBAs need completed to reduce the overall timerequired per DBA.This position will also help with other tasks that occur during the week such asweekly data fixes whichoccur on Thursday and Friday.The secondary goal is to take work off the SQL Server DBAs. This will requirethe individual to havesome experience with Windows Servers and with SQL Server. Additionally, theperson will work withclusters and with Disaster Recovery in our development, test, and productionenvironments.A strong desired experience is migration from Sybase to SQL Server.
