We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with expertise in managing data science teams and leading complex, data-driven projects across business operations and development environments. This role demands a deep understanding of specialized applications, advanced IT systems analysis, and high-level technical integration, essential for handling complex analytical challenges within federal grants management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead moderate-sized data science teams, providing oversight across project planning, data analysis, and development to deliver actionable insights aligned with organizational objectives.
- Provide technical knowledge in systems analysis, design, integration, and implementation for highly specialized applications and complex data environments, ensuring effective problem-solving through domain expertise.
- Apply advanced mathematical principles and data science methodologies to synthesize and fuse data from multiple IT systems, meeting specific requirements for complex grant-related tasks and strategic goals.
- Implement and optimize data wrangling techniques (extract, transform, clean, evaluate, normalize/standardize, and organize) across large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sets.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, performing database interrogations that involve complex joins, subqueries, aggregation, indices, common table expressions, and query optimization.
- Utilize data mining, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques to support data preparation and insights generation from diverse data sources.
- Leverage expertise in data manipulation, programming, and statistical analysis using Python, R, SAS, Tableau, and AWS, adapting approaches for both small and large data environments.
- Maintain familiarity with federal grant-making policies and lifecycle management, and provide analytical support for policy and process improvements across grant administration.
Qualifications:
- Active Public Trust clearance
- 15+ years of experience in data science, with a focus on data-driven project leadership, team management, and direct experience in the tasks described above.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; an advanced degree in data science or statistics is preferred.
- Proven experience with SQL, including coding and debugging stored procedures, as well as proficiency in Python, R, SAS, Tableau, AWS, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and adapt to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- In-depth understanding of grants management policies and experience with the lifecycle of federal grant programs and administration.
