Job Summary
Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to
+ Provide engineering assistance on TDG Network Engineering related projects, as well as the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and performance analysis of SCADA networks and systems. Selected candidate will possess a firm understanding of communications technologies and can perform routine tasks with little guidance from more experience engineers.
+ Work with planners, project managers, engineers, inspectors, field operations supervisors, field technicians, external providers and interconnected transmission and generation customers.
+ Engineer experience with performing analysis to determine the appropriate media such as fiber, wireless radio, microwave, lease line, VSAT, and cellular, for telecommunications service into utility sites, specifying and procuring telecommunications materials per standard designs, experience working with field personnel to commission telecommunications media into utility sites and a general working knowledge of SCADA systems.
+ Possess the ability to manage and engineer multiple projects simultaneously. Additionally, proficient PC skills, including database input, spreadsheets, email, and strong interpersonal and writing skills.
+ Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure: Performs and leads complex infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design and analyze performance of complex infrastructure systems.
+ Provides advanced technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities.
+ Adhere and advocate change management policies, incident management and trouble response scenarios. Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
+ Lead, facilitate, and coordinate work activities of others within the work group, team or department. Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, reports and standards.
+ Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while partaking in annual and project planning.
+ May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
Minimum Requirements:
Infrastructure Engineer Senior (SG7):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, related technical field is required, or related Networking Certification.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Infrastructure Engineer Principal (SG8):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, related technical field is required, or related Networking Certification.
Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Knowledge/Experience:
+ Possess Experience in Network Vulnerability Management and Mitigations
+ Possess broad level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles.
+ Demonstrate competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of varying complexity. (e.g., by dividing the problem into component steps, and performing the analysis necessary to complete each step.)
+ Exhibit understanding for pertinent telecom equipment, materials, systems, and business processes.
+ Exhibit ability to understand interrelationships between systems and component equipment.
+ Demonstrate ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes
+ Demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon their organizational unit
+ Able to relate to people in an open, friendly, and sincere manner
+ Possess the following core competencies: continuous improvement, team player, assume positive intent, safety first focus, continuous learning, professionalism.
