Our direct client is seeking a Data Architect for a direct-hire role with their Chicago, IL location.
Job Description:
Data Architect will design and implement best-in-class data management solutions for metadata, master data and data quality management to enable data analytics capabilities across the Firm.
The successful candidate must be able to gain a deep understanding of relevant Firm business data and processes, enterprise data models and the data integration processes to help design and deliver strategic data solutions to manage firm's data asset, uncover enterprise insights and drive business results.

Data Architect will design and implement best-in-class data management solutions for metadata, master data and data quality management to enable data analytics capabilities across the Firm.
The successful candidate must be able to gain a deep understanding of relevant Firm business data and processes, enterprise data models and the data integration processes to help design and deliver strategic data solutions to manage firm's data asset, uncover enterprise insights and drive business results.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as subject matter expert on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Data Platform
- Designing, developing, testing and implementing solutions for the data management functions including metadata, master data and data quality management, with SQL, C#, Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Event Hub and other vendor platforms
- Leading data architecture review sessions for the data acquisition and integration requests, providing recommendations to the team
- Independently executing complex data analysis across multiple platforms using SQL, Excel and Power BI
- Optimizing data infrastructure and implementing best practices
- Developing detailed requirements documentation including technical architecture design, use cases, business process diagrams with data flows, success criteria and user guides
- Ensuring that all delivered solutions meet the highest quality standards and satisfy business requirements through rigorous validation and testing
- Triaging support issues and provide support for the data management solutions
- Performing code reviews to ensure adherence to standards, responsible for overall quality and accurate implementation of developed solutions utilizing Azure DevOps repository and pipelines
- Lead SLA compliance; own performance tuning and optimization efforts of the data management solutions
- Confidently participate in meetings and manage frequent communications with key stakeholders and senior management
- Bachelor's Degree required preferably in Computer Science, Business, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in a similar role in the Financial Services industry
- 5+ years of experience in a data architect role including enterprise data architecture models, data governance principles, system integration and cloud data platforms
- Hands-on experience implementing metadata management and data quality solutions to manage data assets in complex organizations is required
- Experience delivering master data management solutions to organizations is required
- Expertise in architecting, designing and implementing data solutions with SQL Server and Azure data platform:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Azure data component and services, including Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance, Azure Event Hub, Data Factory, Data Lake, Azure Logic App, Synapse, Azure Data Function and other related tools
- 2+ years of experience in data warehouse implementation with SQL Server
- 2+ years of experience building automated ETL/ELT or data integration processes with multiple source systems.
- Experience with version control system and CI / CD pipeline in Azure DevOps
- Exceptional data analysis skills and strong attention to detail are required including leveraging SQL and Power BI to complete the analysis.
- Full lifecycle experience implementing data & analytics solutions with a working knowledge of agile development, SCRUM and DevOps
- Experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Purview or SQL Server Master Data Services is preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills
- Motivated by a fast-paced, growing, and complex environment, team-oriented and able to multitask
- Experience executing small to medium-sized projects and a general understanding of Project Management principles are desired
- Results-oriented with a high level of personal accountability
