Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
Under general supervision from the SAFE Project Director (Safety, Advocacy, Finances, and Employment), the SAFE Case Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations associated with the domestic violence advocacy project. Travel between DCF area offices in Pittsburg, Parsons, Chanute, Independence, Fort Scott, and Columbus is required. Periodic travel to Wichita will be required.
Accountabilities
- Provide direct advocacy services to both recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and targeted Non-TANF participants as needed, including screening, planning, intake counseling, safety planning, outgoing referrals, and economic advocacy.
- Provide training to community partners and/or Department for Children and Families (DCF) Service Centers to promote SAFE Project program materials and increase domestic violence/sexual assault (DV/SA) knowledge and awareness.
- Participate in community outreach events to promote program awareness and create access to potential DV/SA participants.
- Present SAFE Project curriculum, program materials, and engage with participants at DCF orientations and other community locations.
- Plan and facilitate classes and/or support groups designed to improve life skills, enhance conflict resolution skills, and/or educate about creating healthy relationships.
- Coordinate a spectrum of community resources with a focus on underserved populations and take the lead on developing relationships to help participants navigate how to access safe housing resources, mental health care, and crisis services as needed.
- Establish and/or maintain professional contact (verbal and written) with community partners and advocates client needs.
- Maintain and update outlook calendars with weekly/daily/hourly appointments and commitments.
- Schedule meetings and communicate electronically with colleagues, community partners, and clients within the 25 counties service area (cell phone, email, TEAMS, text).
- Professional verbal and written communication and documentation.
- Enters program demographic and service data in TIER. Completes monthly report(s) required by DCF.
- Performs other related assigned duties.
Requirements
- Education
- Undergraduate degree in social work or social sciences related field.
- Certification, Recertification, Registration, or License
- Class C driver’s license, motor vehicle, and insurance required.
- Experience
- Two years of previous experience working with low-income individuals and families as case manager.
- Professional experience or training in counseling, domestic violence, sexual assault, economically disadvantaged, or other social issues.
- Preference to those who have experience and knowledge in domestic violence and sexual assault services.
- Exposures
- Controlled inside work environment with noise/vibrations from general office equipment.
- Minimal exposure to fumes/dust/odors.
- Work Type: Light, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Climbing/Balancing/Freedom to Move: May be assigned to multilevel building with some floors accessible by stairs only. Minimal required to move about office. Sit about 25 percent of time.

- Reaching: Occasional, overhead as well as horizontal and down.
- Vision: Adequate to perform essential functions.
- Color vision: No particular color vision requirement.
- Hearing: Frequently perceive nature of sounds by ear.
